Why, in Your Opinion Is Marijuana Bad?
Question by Electronic_Funk: Why, in your opinion is marijuana bad?
First I would like to address that I want no ignorant answers, meaning “weed is bad because: it kills people, it’s illegal, the bible says…” In other words, no uneducated, or religiously biased answers, thank you.
I ask this question to spread knowledge.
but first a bit of info from myself.
Marijuana, is Not addictive except for mental addiction
the term gateway drug is subjective IMO because while it does introduce people to other drugs/connections, would it still be a gateway drug if it was legal, eliminating a black market industry and connections to other drugs?
Why weed is illegal:
* Racism & religion- the first prohibition of marijuana was in
1915 when Mormons traveling back from Mexico brought weed, the church was not pleased and ruled against the plant, because the state of Utah enshrined church doctrine as law, the use of weed became illegal- it was also seen as coinciding with the rise of JAZZ “Marihuana influences Negroes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men’s shadows and look at a white woman twice.” a 1934 newspaper
* Fear-Mexicans, Blacks and other foreigners were snaring white children with marijuana; and two, the story of the “assassins.”
* Protection of Corporate Profits-William R. Hearst, owner of a chain of newspapers, was “recruited” by Harry J. Anslinger because of his hate for mexicans and also because Hearst didn’t want the competition from hemp paper
* Yellow Journalism-Being racist against mexicans helped Hearst sell papers, and mexicans smoked weed
* Ignorant, Incompetent, and/or Corrupt Legislators
* Personal Career Advancement and Greed-Harry J. Anslinger and William R. hearst- Anslinger saw The Narcotics Bureau as an amazing career opportunity and cashed in on America’s fear and racism by exploiting marijuana
so basically weed is illegal because of religion (seperation of church and state??) and an opportunist

I would appreciate it if you would actually take time to research the subject, because it is better to take charge than to be a mindless sheep
Though I want weed legal, I’m not saying legal for all ages, IF it were ever legalized then it should hold to same regulations as alcohol i.e. 21 age of consumption no driving
also, ARE YOU SERIOUS!! M J deaths, Moms have a whole coalition against drunk driving because of all the deaths

Fine let’s do that, great idea. You libs can legalize and smoke all the weed you want. Then once the death toll from all of the car accidents under the influence of sweet ole mary-jane gets too high, you will blame conservatives since a REP is in the white house, even with a DEM controlled congress. While you are at it, let’s lower the drinking age to fifteen and test infants to see if we can get humans to develop an immunity to cancer. Bravo for you brilliantly enlightened stance.

The Power In You – A chart-topping country singer is lending his talent to help Utah kids. When Collin Raye heard about the “Power in You” program and its aim to help teens face challenges such as bullying, drug abuse and eating disorders, he wanted to help. So Raye agreed to record their theme song, “The Power in You” which will be used at events to help inspire teens to find their own power within. “It’s a big powerful poetic reminder of how not only do you have to make decisions, but you have to be around people who are going to help you do that, and it’s very difficult on your own” says Raye
