First of all, I would like to say that it’s great that you are trying to kick the habit.
Try AA, at least you will have some support.
And another thing, don’t buy alcohol and don’t go to places where you will be tempted to by alcohol.
Good luck and I know people who have done the same thing as you so it’s totally possible!

If you are truly and absolutely addicted to alcohol and have a true dependency, DO NOT go cold turkey. Do some research on it because going cold turkey from true alcoholism causes delerium, psychosis and a whole lot of crazy things and you can actually die from quitting. Slowing down sure, but do not go cold turkey without the proper medication and doctor’s recommendations. Great job on going for the gold and congratulations, but the chance on dying from withdraw from alcohol is an EXTREMELY dangerous thing.
doom is right–AA–go and E–mail me–now!
Many people don’t realize that alcohol withdrawal is arguably the worst kind of drug withdrawal anyone can have.
I don’t know your level of alcoholism, but delirium tremens can be fatal.
At the least, you should go to a detox facility for a few days so they can professionally detox you.
Beyond that, you need a long term plan to stay sober. Going to AA meetings is helpful for some, but many people need much more intensive treatment to really beat the addiction.
Rehab is one of your best options if you can afford to take about a month off.

You’ll be pretty hard pressed to stay sober without the proper support.
