Does Anyone Out There Know Anything About Rules and Regulations About Rehab Facilities?

Question by Jack: Does anyone out there know anything about rules and regulations about rehab facilities?
My girl friend signed herself into a local rehab facility about two months ago. I have been sending her a note card everyday with an encouraging word for each day and a letter one or twice a week. I never mention anything about drugs or any thing negative only encouraging words and hope for us to have a new future together after she finishes the program. I’m not a user and only want to support her through this time. Now I just got a letter from her that they told her she is getting to much mail and I can only send a letter once a week. I love her with all my heart and the daily notes I send her keeps her in my thoughts each day and they do the same for her. Where can I find any rules and regulations that govern rehabs and what they can control regarding someone that has voluntarily sighed themselves in to their facility. I never heard of anyone in prison not being able to receive as much mail as they were sent. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

She has voluntarily signed herself in…therefore she has agreed to whatever rules the facility has. If it’s a private facility, that could be any level of communication the supervisors feel is appropriate.

You best bet is to simply call the rehab facility and ask them what their policy is.

there aren’t any such rules and regs. the staff decides what outside influences are permitted and in what quantities, usually based on patient’s progress or lack of progress.

since you’re from the pre-intervention druggie life that she’s trying to shake — staff would be perfectly within their duties to simply discard all your notes and letters unread.
