Do Drug Rehab Programs Really Work?
Question by Katrina K: Do drug rehab programs really work?
My best friend got hooked on dope for about a year now. Actually, both of us started to take dope when we were during our junior years but fortunately, I got out from this vile habit thanks to my parents. However, my best friend is still on that stuff and it is gradually taking its toll on our friendship. I’m really afraid and guilty right now since I’m the one who urged him to try it out.
I feel that it is now my duty as his friend to help him recover from this addiction. Now, I would like to know if you guys can show me any program or treatment that can help my friend lead a clean life again. Thanks guys.

He will only quit if he wants to. Any 12 step program is good.
man that is totally up to the person in them. (sorry to say)
The support and structure is good but its up to the individual.
Truthfully though, healing only takes place in a mentoring situation, one-on-one and not among a group of people rehasing and living in the past, trying to outdo each other with stories from the “Crazy Old Days”.
Drug rehab programs work only when the person concerned is sincerely committed to get rehabilated. The person really has to feel from the inside that he/she wants to quit. Under such circumstances, he/ she has a better chance. Otherwise it is useless. I have seen and expereinced such case in my own family.
