After Getting Off an Airplane My Ear Has Been Full for About a Week Now?

Question by Stacy: After Getting Off An Airplane My Ear Has Been Full For About A Week Now?
So I took a trip to Russia from Washington D.C. A good 8 or so hours apart. After coming back, I got off the plane and my ear was really full and I couldn’t hear that well. After a day or so, I can hear kind of normally again, but my ear still feels “full”. I’ve tried looking up what to do and stuff but I can’t find much.

Is it a medical condition? Idk if this helps but sometimes when all is quiet, I hear a slight “sizzling”/”hissing” noise or whatever in that very ear. I’m 13 and I got back home last Monday.

THANK U! :]

try a q tip.

I wouldn’t advise the q-tip like the first answer told you. That could push fluid or wax deeper into the ear. What you describe is common and has to do with pressure changes. I know it’s really uncomfortable. You can try taking a decongestant nasal spray, such as Afrin, or take an over-the-counter decongestant tablet. You can also try Benadryl. Also try swallowing really hard, yawning, chewing gum. There’s a technique you can try where you hold your nose like you’re going under water, close your mouth and blow. You may need to see a doctor if symptoms don’t improve. Good luck.
