Outlawing Drugs?

Question by Do You See What Happens Larry?: Outlawing Drugs?
The whole purpose of outlawing drugs is to keep people from taking them but yet they do it anyway. Can we ever stop people from taking drugs? Should we de-criminalize drugs and clear out some jail space for higher crimes and save billions of dollars? And in the process take the big money element away from crime lords? Perhaps concentrate our efforts even more on prevention? What is the outcome of the “war on drugs”?

IT’S TIME FOR RED LIGHT DISTRICTS. THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO GROW UP.

I don’t think the government can ever fully stop people from doing drugs. There’s no way they would be able to monitor every single drug dealer and user. I don’t think we should de-criminalize drugs though. Some of these drug criminals are extremely dangerous if leashed out onto society so they are better off locked up…no matter what the cost. I think that the “War On Drugs” is great in theory, but I think it’s a losing battle. If people aren’t supposed to do something, they’re sometimes more enticed to do it anyway. I think society will always have to deal with drugs.
