Do Drug Hotlines Turn You in to the Police?
Question by Jake D: Do drug hotlines turn you in to the police?
I am 17, and I have an addiction to cocaine. I am starting to crash really really hard right now, and I want to get help. I really do. I am afraid if I call a drug abuse hotline they will turn me in. I can’t have that. I don’t want to go to jail. And I want to have the number blocked, I do not want the police knocking on my door. Can I have an anonymous call?

You shouldn’t have to worry about criminal prosecution from a drug hot-line, as your confidentiality is protected by law.
Imagine the police if they had to “knock on the door” every time someone was suspected or accused of using drugs. Their knuckles would be bloody because people would abuse this power by “telling” on people they were angry at, trying to get back at, etc.
Please get help immediately. If you don’t stop this downward spiral, there will be police knocking at your door anyway, and it won’t be because of the drug hot-line.
Good luck.
i highly doubt they call the cops. the point is to get you help not get you arrested
All calls are anonymous as long as you call an official hotline.
