You’ll have to research to find statistics worth using. Search on the topic and you might find a few articles that mention statistics and a source. You might have to look to trade journals to find this info; something credible in the field of drug and alcohol addiction or poverty.

Race is factor for blacks as well as other minorities as it pertains to poverty. The connection to alcoholism and drug addiction is not as simple. Drug use and abuse whether illicit or not is not racially exclusive. National Survey on Drug Use and Health suggests that recent drug use among blacks is a little more than 1% higher than whites. Poverty is more likely to be a determining factor in why drugs are used. Poor people are far more likely to self-medicate with illicit drugs or alcohol because the lack of resources makes options like psychotherapy unreasonable. When more affluent individuals self-medicate they are typically making a choice between two options.
